DAY 20 CHRISTMAS GOOD NEWS: AN ATTITUDE OF PEACE
For some reason, I associate peace with water and with awe. Some of my most peaceful moments have been spent watching the sunrise from the most beautiful beach in the world or sitting beside the window while it’s raining, a book in one hand and a cup of coffee in another. It may also have been because of the song “I’ve got peace like a river”.
But when I think of the deep and free flowing river as a metaphor for God’s peace, I realize that most of the time, my heart is the raging and tumultuous sea. So really, peacefulness is not achieved by surrounding yourself with nature or beautiful things. It is an attitude of the heart, an inner quietness and confidence that even if you may be going through difficult times or you feel like things are not okay, you know that God is in control and will make everything right, according to His will. It may not be right now and it may take time, but He holds our future in His hands.
Read the following Bible verses that talk about God’s peace (and read about their context too)
Galatians 5:22-23
Matthew 5:9
Isaiah 26:3
Psalm 29:11
Romans 16:20
John 16:33
