Day 6 of 31 Days of Hope: Borrowed Time
This December, OMF Literature would like to share with you 31 excerpts from 31 devotionals. In an age where people are desperate to cling to something or someone, we offer a message of encouragement, inspiration, and love from the One who is the eternal source of Hope.
My computer died on me on Christmas Day last year. It is the worst thing that can happen to a writer whose lifework is in it. It started ailing on Christmas Eve, but my techie son worked his magic and it came to life. “But Mom, it’s living on borrowed time,” he warned while saving all my files in an external drive.
Like my computer, we are all living on borrowed time. As sinners, we ought to be spiritually dead. But the God of grace came on Christmas so that we can have a chance to live.
As for physical death, it can happen anytime. Some may have time—those who linger on their sickbeds—but others don’t. A road accident, massive heart attack, natural disaster, and pffft. Where to next?
Jesus assures us where to go. He took all sins on our behalf, so that by accepting Him as our Savior, we will live with Him when our borrowed time on earth is up.
Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the gift of new life with You. Amen.
