LUIS P. GATMAITAN is a medical doctor and author of more than 70 books for children and other nonfiction titles. Among the books he has written are the Hiyas classic Sandosenang Sapatos and the popular children’s book series, Mga Kuwento ni Tito Dok. His books have been translated to several languages and adapted to musicals, animations, apps, and theater productions. A Hall-of-Fame awardee of the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, he received from the said institution the distinguished Gawad Dangal ng Lahi Award in 2023. He is the first Filipino children’s book author to get nominated by the national section of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY-Philippines) to the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. Dr. Gatmaitan is currently the chair of the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT).
