Tips on How to Do Quiet Time
A “quiet time” is a time for you to spend with the Lord daily to grow in your relationship with Him. Here are some tips on how to have a more meaningful quiet time, devotions, or whatever you may call it. Let’s begin in the word this 2023 and beyond.
1. Meditate on the Bible - We can meditate on chapters or even use a devotional as we delight in the treasures God unfolds before us from familiar passages.
2. Choose a place - There are no particular “holy places” we need to go to meet with God. However, it is beneficial to find a private place where we will avoid distractions such as gadgets and noises to allow us to be authentic with God in our prayers.
3. Make some time - There are no “holy times” either. You can have your quiet time in the morning, afternoon or evening. It’s best to schedule a regular time when you can be “clear-minded and self-controlled so you can pray” (1 Peter 4:7).
4. Feel free to be creative - Personal time is not exclusive to reading and meditating. Feel free to be creative like singing hymns, drawing your learnings, or discover other ways to spend time with the Lord.
5. Maintain a personal journal - You may find it helpful to write down prayer requests and answers in your journal.
6. Keep meeting other Christians – Be a blessing by meeting and encouraging other Christians with the things God has been teaching you.
