Description
The Way of the Shepherd is about your heart, your character, and your priorities. It's counter-cultural, flying in the face of modern corporate values. Practice the seven principles derived from shepherding and see for yourself the difference they make in your workers, in your business, and, most important, in you.
Book Excerpt
"'A manager can't manage what he doesn't know,' he continued. 'So you have to make a point of knowing not just the status of the work but also the status or your people. Many managers focus too much on their projects and not enough on their people... Remember, it's your people who get the job done. Your people are your greatest competitive advantage. You have to take a personal interest in each of the people who report directly to you. You need to discover their skills and interests. You need to know their goals and dreams, what motivates them when they walk through the door in the morning, what their career ambitions and frustrations are.'"

Checking on our kids' room one morning, I found this book on top of a cabinet. Curious with the title, I started flipping it and breezed over its pages. It got me excited that I took it with me without my son's permission and started reading it in the living room. I'm not really into heavy reading but this is one book I couldn't let go of. I learned later that my son is reading it in preparation of leading his own group.

I really love reading this book. What it teaches is really awesome, especially its analogy with shepherd. Each chapter and point make me amaze at our Great Shepherd. At the same time, this book addresses the root causes of most problems in a corporate world. It presents the deeper side of management and leadership. I really recommend this to people who want to be a 'leader'.
